Our story

XI - The first stones

1060 marked the entry of Thorens Castle into the history of Savoy. This fiefdom was then under the authority of the Count of Geneva, at whose instance the first fortifications were built on this site. Over time, several families owned Thorens Castle.

XV - From one family to another

During the 15th century, the powerful and formidable lords of Compey, stricken by disgrace, were forced to give way to the House of Savoy. The castle almost immediately fell into the hands of another princely family allied with the House of Savoy: the princes of Luxembourg-Martigues.

XVII - The palace of the Marquis de Sales

At the dawn of the 1567th century, Saint Francis de Sales (1622-XNUMX) acquired the castle. From that time on, the Château de Thorens took on the appearance of a palace. However, the Marquis de Sales were kind enough to preserve, in stone, the memory of past centuries.
