Haute-Savoie by bike: 2 unmissable rides

Discovering Haute-Savoie by bike is without a doubt the best way to appreciate the beautiful panoramas that this beautiful region has to offer. Whether you're looking for quiet routes on the Greenways or more challenging routes, there's something for the whole family!

A historic greenway: a bike ride around Lake Annecy

How about exploring one of the oldest greenways in France? There are several cycling routes around Lake Annecy. The route on the west bank, which stretches over 30 kilometres to the Val de Chaise, is the most comfortable and safest, as it is entirely built on the old railway line that used to link Annecy to Albertville. It is also possible to go all the way around the lake to complete a 40 kilometre loop. However, you will have to be careful on the east bank, in Veyrier-du-Lac and Menthon-Saint-Bernard, where cyclists have to share the road with motorists.

Whichever ride you choose for your day of cycling, you will have the pleasure of passing through authentic villages and beaches on the lake. An excellent compromise between sports activities and relaxation with family or friends.

A hike for climbers: the Glières plateau

No need to go very far away from the Château de Thorens to tackle a small endurance event worthy of the most beautiful stages of the Tour de France. Indeed, it is at the start of Thorens-Glières that the ascent of the Col des Glières begins, a 14-kilometre effort spiced up by a positive difference in altitude of 780 metres, which ends at the Col du Collet to allow the victorious athletes to discover the National Monument to the Resistance of the Plateau des Glières. An excursion reserved for the most experienced cyclists in Haute-Savoie...
